Background: The benefits of oxygenation to fight infection have been known and used since the 1800’s. Ozone infusions became possible with the invention of the first ozone generator in 1896. During WWI, ozone therapy was applied to help treat severe infections such as gangrene and trench foot, and throughout the century the discoveries of its benefits multiplied, with some scientists speculating a correlation between blood oxygenation and decreases in major diseases.*
What to expect: An i.v. is started in the patient to withdraw a selective amount of blood. The blood is then infused with ozone and then returned into the patient at a slow drip. Treatments take less than an hour. Multiple sessions are suggested for optimal results. High-dose ozone treatments are also available after initial tolerance has been built up.
Please Note: Despite the historical effectiveness of ozone therapy, this procedure is not FDA approved. Results are not guaranteed to prevent, treat, or cure any disease.
